Tuesday's Tip: Season without losing track!

When ThriftyGuy and I got new pots and pans, we made sure to get a set that would last a long time. And we wanted to do everything we could to keep them in pristine condition. One of the most important things you can do to a new pot/pan is to season it per the manufacturer instructions.

One problem that arises with this is, however, when you get a big set and don't have the time/energy/space to season all the pans at once. How can you easily keep track of which ones have been properly seasoned and which ones haven't? (And if you skip this important step, it can greatly decrease the performance/life of your cookware!  Trust me, I have learned this the hard way!)

So here's an easy approach that I came up with to this annoying issue: simply wrap a twist tie through/around the handle of every single pot/pan after washing them. Once you properly season the pan, remove the twist tie. Then you'll know which pans are already seasoned and which pans still need to be. Sounds simple but it really helps to eliminate confusion and hassle! And in the end, it'll help ensure that your cookware lasts as long as possible and performs the best it possibly can!
