Ok, so I have an embarrassing confession to make....
I can't remember the last time I bought a CD. Seriously. Maybe it was when Coldplay released X&Y in 2005. Before that I really couldn't tell you the last CD I bought. It used to be that I would just buy a CD for one song. Remember those days? Back when CD's were new... $16.99 for one great song on repeat, over and over again (because the other songs just didn't live up to that one song that sucked you in). These days I would rather just save my money....
Until now... As many of you know, I was recently in the hospital for a bit. During one particular procedure, they let me listen to music. They asked what I wanted to listen to. I was under the influence of some pretty major medications and scared to death, so I said, "Do you have anything mellow like Dave Matthews?" They said, "No. How about top 40?" Lol.... I went with it - who was I to argue??
As I was laying there a familiar song started playing. I said out loud (in my most-lovely dehydrated and crackly voice), "Hey! This is from a car commercial!" They laughed and I swear they thought I was crazy, but I knew I had heard it before. I remember liking that song on a commercial awhile back and thinking, "I should look this up...." Turns out I had, but I had forgot about it in the midst of all that was going on.
Anyway, after all was said and done and I was home, I looked it up again and sure enough it was "1901" by Phoenix - the song on the Cadillac commercials. I went straight to Pandora (the best online FREE radio station ever!!), created a new station by typing in "1901" for the song and selecting "Phoenix" as the band, and have been in love ever since! I think I may have discovered the perfect radio station : ) I recommend at least trying it out if you use Pandora!
Anyway, I know that my opinion is just that -my opinion. But as someone who hasn't bought a CD in well over 5 years, I must admit - Phoenix was good enough to make me go out and get their CD, "Wolfgang Amadeus". (It's on sale for a STEAL of a price at Best Buy right now - $7.99!! I think that price may only go through today, as the sales will change tomorrow.) Of course I used some Best Buy rewards points and got it for FREE, but I would have paid the $7.99 had I needed to! Oh yeah, and I thought I would also note that I don't do any song skipping - this is a CD that is so good that I just let it play straight through!
Anyway, I just wanted to share this.... I love when people tell me about great new bands, products, etc. so I thought I would pass this on to you! : )

P.S. Phoenix - if you read this, please consider coming to Raleigh, NC for a show! We would LOVE to have you!! : )

I fell in love with Phoenix when I saw them on SNL last year. I bought the CD too, something I don't do very often.
