Information on a FANTASTIC new sports eatery!

So this post is greatly overdue; I apologize to the owners of Cheers Sports Eatery for my delay!  (Being sick really put a damper on all of my posts lately!)

Anyway, as many of you know, I recently traveled home to Ohio for my high school reunion.  When I was there, my good friends Dawn and Meigan took me out to a new place, (you guessed it!) Cheers Sports Eatery, for some drinks and good eats while we reminisced about old times.  Cheers had barely been open 2 weeks at the point of our visit, but had managed to find themselves some regulars already!  The atmosphere was instantly warm and inviting; you can watch your favorite game on one of several TV screens or simply enjoy the company you are with (well, unless you are with my friends, then it's more like laugh hysterically and make people wonder what you are up to, lol).  I was curious to try the strawberry long island, as it came strongly recommended.  Consider yourself warned:  the drinks are delicious (and a bit on the strong side!) and go down verrrryyy smoothly  ; )  The food was quite tasty and it all came at a very affordable price.  The service was prompt, friendly, and incredibly accomodating.  All in all, we had an awesome experience at Cheers and I would highly recommend if you live in (or will be visiting) Northwest Ohio to stop on by (see the flyer to the left for the address).

Their hours are:
  • Monday - Wednesday:  11am - 11pm
  • Thursday - Saturday:  11am - 1am
  • Sunday:  Closed
You can see more information about Cheers (and become a fan!) here on their Facebook page.

Thanks again to the staff for such a great experience!

Free music and more from Thrifty Guy

Happy Halloween to everyone.

What I have for you today is a unique pairing of music and a microscope!

The first set of music I found is from The Orange Mountain Music record company promoting Philip Glass' classical music. There are 21 peaceful, easy listening songs available for FREE download HERE.

These 10 wedding songs by The O'Neill Brothers include Ave Maria, Ode to Joy, and everyones favorite wedding song Canon In D. Click HERE to download these wedding favorites for FREE.

Finally today, I have found a very inexpensive Microscope for all of you science lovers out there! Halloween Freebies, Activities, and Giveaways... Turns out there are TOO many to list! See below for more details!!

Ok, ok… so I was listing a new post for each new FREE Halloween activity, food giveaway, and event that I was finding, but I have found so many that I decided to list one post!

I have updated the “ALL things FREE” Halloween list with companies such as Macy’s, Jersey Mikes, and Sonic.

To see the complete listing (and map out your Halloween adventure!), click here.

New addition to the Halloween List: Macy's is holding a FREE Halloween event with tons of activities, face painting, trick-or-treat bags, and even FREE gift cards!!

Macy's has announced that they too will be participating in the Halloween fun tomorrow!

Be one of the first 100 customers to arrive when the doors open Saturday and get a free $10 treat to spend! (While supplies last at every Macy's store.) There will be a Coolest Costume Contest at 11am in the Kids Department. Also, while you're in the kid's department, make sure to get your free trick-or-treat bag to color and take your show on the road. Free face painting from the pros all day, at participating makeup counters.

Sounds like fun!  Click here for more info!

**As always, check with your local store before heading out.  This item has been added to the "ALL things FREE" Halloween list!  : )

Tomorrow looks like it may just be the best Halloween ever!  : )

Shhhhh.... The secret to getting HUNDREDS of Artscow.com discounts....

Many of you visit my website or ask me personally about Artscow.com discounts. They do send out some really great email deals, but I want to let you in on a little secret that you may or might not know of that may help you out...

There are actually HUNDREDS of deals available to you at ALL times on Artscow.com. And they are SPECTACULAR deals. The only catch? You have to be a member of Artscow. If you have previously ordered from them, then chances are that you are a member. If not, sign up here (it’s fast, free, and easy).

  • Up will pop a page with a long list on left hand side (should be in purple lettering). You will see “Overview”, underneath that count down 3 spaces where it says, “Credit & Discount”; click on that.

  • This brings you to your personal list of Artscow discounts. If you want something, follow that item across the screen to where it says, “Generate” and click it (for that particular item).

  • The page will reset; go back to where you clicked “Generate”. In its place is a code. Next to it, click “Order Now”.

  • Once you have personalized your selected item and placed it in your cart, it will be FREE at check out.

  • **Note: While the items are free, you do have to pay shipping and handling on them.

These items are great for personalized, fun (sometimes beautiful!) yet inexpensive gifts for birthdays, Christmas, etc.! If you are thinking of getting them for the holidays, I would start ordering now!
I hope this tip helps! But beware, Artscow can be very addicting! (Don’t say I didn’t warn you, lol! : )

**And for those of you who are wondering about the level of quality of items, dealing with the company, how fast you get your items, etc. I can personally tell you that I have ordered many an item from this website and NONE of them have ever let me down! They all look great, are great quality, inexpensive to buy, and come when promised (usually sooner!) I’ve never had an issue with payment, the items, or the company! Artscow gets two thumbs up all the way!! : )

Attention all those who love to cook (or are looking to improve their skills!): FREE online culinary school! (lessons, techniques, recipes, and more!)

If you are like me and love to cook, then you may find yourself looking up recipes and trying new techniques from time to time to spice it up. I’ve always wanted to try culinary school (not for the job, but to tweak my cooking skills), but have never found the time. Until now.

I found this great (FREE) website from the Rouxbe cooking school. Their website states,

“Want to learn to be a chef? Wish you could go to cooking school but just can't find the time? Or maybe you just want to become a better home cook?

Rouxbe is a new kind of culinary website where we teach home cooks how to cook better by using the same process that professional chefs and culinary schools have used for decades all over the world. It starts with learning cooking skills and culinary techniques and then practicing these newly acquired skills and techniques with delicious recipes.

So you won't find celebrity chefs or millions of user generated recipes at Rouxbe but you will find hundreds of close up instructional cooking videos that focus on the food and learning how to cook it. Who knows, you might just become a great home chef after all. What are you waiting for?”

You start by “enrolling” in your free online account and then the sky is the limit! They have great, easy to follow instructional videos, “practice” recipes so that you can truly learn the technique, and even quizzes to see if you have grasped what is important from the lesson. There are payable premium memberships, but they aren’t required. (I was able to watch videos and learn without even signing up for the free account!)

It’s like watching a cooking show, only they go much slower and explain it all! If you are a foodie or looking to perfect your skills, this might be the website for you!

Check it out here!

Great (FREE) resource website: HP Learning Center

Ever wonder how to truly get that great photo you’ve been aiming for? Or why the heck your wireless network isn’t working?!? Or maybe how you can decrease your Windows startup time? Well, I just may have (the website that has) the answers for you...  : )

I recently found the HP Learning Center, and let me tell you, this is quite a valuable resource! With sections on topics such as PC Security and Maintenance, Digital Photograpy, and Home Office, it has a lot of advice and tips to offer! And it doesn’t just stop there! There is some info for businesses, IT professionals, even the government! Wow! And the best news of all? The articles, videos, tips, and advice are all FREE!

See it for yourself here.

Old Navy Weekly has reset.... coupon locations and GIVEAWAY information! : )

So Old Navy Weekly reset and it (again) was tough!  There were only 100 $50/$100 coupons.  ThriftyGuy came *this close* to getting one, but then they ran out.

We did get the next best coupon (which has also run out!); $25 off a $100 purchase.  If you are interested, see below for the giveaway information!  Also, I think we may have a higher value coupon to give away coming up soon (if they are giving out coupons for retweeting this week).  I'll keep you posted on that one....

If you are looking for some more coupons, here are the (present locations).  There are supposedly unlimited $10 off $50 coupons this week.  As for the others, some have limits (like the 20%), some don't say if they are limited or not (10% and 15%).  Point being, get to OldNavyWeekly.com and get whatever you want as quickly as you can!

  • 10% when you buy plaid:  Click Michelle's white scarf.

  • 15% off your entire purchase:  Click the yellow fleece at the bottom.

  • 20% off your entire purchase:  Click the falling leaves (upper right hand corner; you have to wait a little while for them to fall.  If you miss, refresh your page and wait again!)

  • $10 off $50 purchase:  Take the purple gloves in the little girls hands (upper right hand corner) and place them on the blue fleece in the lower right hand corner.

  • $25 coupon giveaway information:
To enter to win, fill out the form at the bottom of this post. One entry per giveaway per person please. ONLY THOSE THAT FILL OUT THE FORM ARE ELIGIBLE. PLEASE ONLY FILL IT OUT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN WINNING THE PARTICULAR COUPON THE GIVEAWAY IS FOR. ***Being an email subscriber/not being an email subscriber has nothing to do with this particular giveaway. Giveaway ends Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 11:00pm EST. The winner will be drawn via random number generator. They will be announced and immediately notified following the close of the giveaway. Should you win, the coupon will be immediately sent to the email address that you entered on the form; there is nothing to verify prior to getting your coupon.

She gave out a coupon good for 50% off EVERYTHING at Payless!!  The catch?  It expires tomorrow!  So head out today or tomorrow; this coupon is sure to be worth it's weight in gold!

Click here to get your coupon.

    Old Navy night!

Who's ready for Old Navy reset night???  Tonight should be the night, as the text has already come through.  Hopefully this week will go more smoothly than last!

Also wanted to let you know that BOTH of our 20% off coupons from loyal reader Jennifer T. have been given away!  I gave the first to Laura H., who was the first to respond to the giveaway!  No one else responded after that, so I decided to take a different approach.  We took that coupon, along with the left over $10 off a $50 purchase and headed to Old Navy where we gave them to people shopping in the store.  We didn't tell them who we were or that we were with this website; we simply asked if they could use a coupon.  Boy did it make two different shopper's day!  They were incredibly appreciative and thankful!  It felt great to pay it forward!  : )

Well, back to monitoring the chat rooms and Old Navy Weekly.  Here's to a night of a good, clean reset and lots of high value coupons!!  : )

Deal Alert: TWO years of Redbook Magazine for $5!

So my subscription was up on my Redbook magazine and they kept sending me notices to renew for $20 a year.  I thought that was an extraordinary amount to pay for a magazine subscription, especially in this day in age.  So I did what anyone would do; I canceled it!  I then looked around for a deal and came across one on Amazon that can't be beat!  Right now you can get TWO years of Redbook for $10.  But, if you buy before Saturday, October 31st, they will give you a $5 gift certificate good toward a future purchase (basically making the subscription $5 for TWO years!)  There are a bunch of magazines on the list that offer $5, $10, and even $15 gift certificates (they will send it to you within 2 weeks of your magazine purchase).  The only downfall?  I didn't see any way to indicate if you wanted to renew a subscription; it only appears that you can start a new one.  Nonetheless, this is great if your subscription has run out or will make a great birthday or Christmas gift!

Who's lookin' for an Old Navy coupon?

It's a little last minute, but thanks to loyal reader Jennifer T., we have TWO more 20% off coupons to give away!  They are good until tomorrow, which still leaves time to take advantage of the great clearance deals going on at Old Navy right now...

The first two people to send an email to ThriftyGrl's email address (jen at ThriftyGrl dot com) with their first name, last initial, and tell us that they want one of the coupons, can have it!

Free piece of Chicken from KFC on 10/26

Kentucky Fried Chicken will be giving away a free piece of chicken this coming Monday October 26th. to promote their Kentucky Grilled Chicken. Some of you may remember the last time that KFC attempted this and they ran out of chicken! When that happened though, KFC did the right thing and gave out vouchers for free food. KFC is assuring everyone this time that they will not run out of chicken because they are better prepared for people like us that love freebies. I have yet to try their grilled chicken and am looking forward to it.

Who wants an Old Navy coupon?

Ok guys, ThriftyGrl is really under the weather, so that leaves me, ThriftyGuy, to do the Old Navy Coupon giveaway this week.  As we all know, the reset pretty much sucked and so many of you did not get any coupons.  We were able to get coupons on the second reset, which we will be giving away.

The remaining coupon locations are as follows on OldNavyWeekly.com:

    • 10% off when you buy something plaid:  Put the pink scarf (in the black purse) around the neck of the girl with the short black hair.

    • 15% off your entire purchase:  Put the gray plaid shirt on the blonde girl in the blue shirt.

    • $10 off $50:  Put the orange scarf on the green sweater.

We do have two types of coupons to giveaway this week:  20% off (no longer available on ONW) and $10 off a $50 purchase (still available, but has been intermittently working on the website).

You can enter one or both of the giveaways.  The rules are as follows:

To enter to win, fill out the form(s) at the bottom of this post. Giveaway ends Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 1:00pm EST. The winners will be drawn via random number generator. They will be announced and immediately notified following the close of the giveaway. Should you win, the coupon will be immediately sent to the email address that you entered on the form; there is nothing to verify prior to getting your coupon.

    Coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase:
If you are interested in a $10 off a $50 purchase, we have 4 to giveaway.  I know this one is available at this point, but seems to have problems when you try to get it.  If you don't want to hassle with it and are looking for a coupon, enter your information here:

    Coupon for 20% off:
As for the 20% off coupons, those are completely gone from the website.  We were however, able to get 2 for a giveaway.  If you are interested in this particular coupon giveaway, enter your information here:

    Good luck!

    Freebie of the Day

    Hello from ThriftyGuy

Today I have found for the low low price of Free (plus $4.99 for shipping) is a 68 in 1 Memory Card reader. What this memory card reader will do is help you transfer and manage files from various types of digital cameras and other devices that have memory cards. This will be very helpful because not everyone has a memory card reader on their computer or they don't have the proper reader. To take advantage of this great offer, Click Here. Old Navy Weekly resets again...well kind of

ThriftyGuy here with the latest scoop. So after about a 45 minute wait, Old Navy Weekly relaunches the site that gave us fits on trying to win coupons. It seemed that all of the High Value coupons were already spoken for, yet know one we know won any of them. Then we realize the problems that they were having and figured they would relaunch the site, and they did! However, it appeared that none of the High Value coupons were available again, but we were able to score some 20% off and $10 off of $50. Old Navy Weeklys' counter still shows some of these coupons available, but when you click on them, Old Navy says they are all gone.

Well ThriftyGrl and I were able to get quite a few of the 20% off and $10 off of $50 coupons and the giveaway for them will be posted tomorrow...

    Not so fast....

Looks like Old Navy is set to reset a SECOND time.... only we don't know when!  This has never happened before!!!  The Old Navy Weekly site is saying to try back later.  ThriftyGuy and I will monitor it as best we can....  Hopefully this will lead to some good coupons!

    Stay tuned for more info....

    Disappointing Old Navy Night...

Wow....  Old Navy Weekly has sunk to a new low.  I was so excited to be home for the reset this week and despite feeling sick, was sticking around to help everyone get coupons.  However, once the website reset, none of the coupons actually worked for ANYONE.  There weren't any $75's and the $50's were declared gone before any of us could even get on (and that was a chat room of over 200 people!)  Once we all started hunting, we quickly figured out locations, but something was clearly wrong with the site, as the coupons did not pop up for anyone.

I am not only extremely disappointed (and disgusted) with ONW, but am also very sad that I cannot offer any coupons this week.  Not only do I not have any to give out, but I can't even tell you locations, as they are STILL not working correctly at this time.  Sorry for the disappointment guys... ThriftyGuy and I are with you in the frustration tonight!!  If anything changes, we'll let you know!

More great recipes from Recipe Lion! (Eggplant, Cheesecake, and Halloween recipes and ideas!)

MAJOR Deal Alert! FREE Antibiotics at Giant Eagle!

Major Deal Alert!!  Giant Eagle grocery stores have announced they will fill your antibiotic prescriptions for FREE!  I know, I know!  I kept wondering what the catch was, but apparently there isn't one.

Here's what they have to say (taken from their website):

"Giant Eagle® is committed to making health care more affordable, saving you money, and helping to improve your health and well-being — so we’re introducing a FREE antibiotics program, just in time for the back-to-school season!

Back-to-school is an exciting time, but it also means that children and families spend more time indoors — and are more susceptible to bacteria-related illnesses. That’s where our FREE antibiotics program comes in handy.

How the Giant Eagle® FREE antibiotics program works:

If your physician prescribes an antibiotic as part of your treatment, simply bring your prescription to any participating Giant Eagle Pharmacy® and receive up to a 14-day supply of qualifying, generic antibiotics FREE.

The following antibiotics are included in the program:

    Amoxicillin

    Ampicillin

    Cephalexin

    Ciprofloxacin

    Doxycycline Hyclate

    Erythromycin

    Gentamicin

    Penicillin

    Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim

    Tetracycline

The FREE antibiotics program has no limit on the number of prescriptions you can fill, and covers new prescriptions and refills."

OMG!  You can't beat a FREE prescription!  To check the complete list of free antibiotics (not all dosage strengths and forms might be available in the program), click here.

Why you ask, are they doing this?  According to Giant Eagle,
"Saving you money on antibiotics is part of our pledge to make health care more affordable for you, your family, and your community. Our FREE antibiotics program helps us meet those goals. This program builds upon our $4/$10 generic prescription medication program that delivers $64 million in customer savings each year.

Antibiotics are prescribed for many illnesses, including strep throat, pneumonia, severe acne, urinary tract infections, and to prevent infections from certain surgeries and dental procedures. Antibiotics should not be used to treat colds or the flu. Always check with your doctor before taking a prescription antibiotic."

Announcing new consultant to ThriftyGrl with great (style) advice!

As some of you may or may not know, I have a twin SandeeJene. She may be from a different mama, but boy do we get confused with each other ALL the time at work! And it doesn’t matter that she has a cute southern accent while I am as northern as they come, that she wears makeup that makes her look fresh and vibrant where as I put on just enough to cover my oh-so pale skin (so that I don’t scare the patients), or the fact that she has always has on the most gorgeous, eye-popping jewelry you will ever find (where as I stick to my Target watch and that’s about it).  Somehow they still confuse us, lol…

Yeah, we may be mistaken for each other, but we definitely are two different people. SandeeJene is someone I look up to and always am asking advice on the latest and greatest in jewelry, fashion, etc. Since she is always so put together and looking so fab, I asked her if she wouldn’t mind being a ThriftyGrl consultant, reporting great deals on jewelry, fashion, etc whenever she finds fabulous items at ThriftyGrl prices. Of course she agreed! (Hooray for us ThriftyGrl readers!!)

The first thing you should know before we get started is that SandeeJene is absolutely crazy about handcrafted, custom pieces. She loves getting items that are one of a kind. The first place that she told me about is all about this. Now for those of you who are here locally, you may be aware of a great jewelry store in Cameron Village called Hand Picked. According to SandeeJene, this is a great place to find beautiful, custom jewelry at affordable prices. For those of you who don’t live in the area, you are also able to shop the store as they have an online site: http://www.behandpicked.com/. There is a lot to look and choose from!

The second resource may be a little more familiar to some of you: Etsy.com. I have personally never shopped it, but I have heard that it is the EBay of hand crafted items. According to SandeeJene, “People go on this website to sell everything from hand-made crafts to jewelry to clothes...searching that site often gives me great gift finds at killer cheap prices!” She is fond of one person in particular: "JanieDMattern” is a seller I love off of Etsy. She hand makes beautiful pieces of jewelry for like $8 per pair of earrings. Her jewelry is even made from vintage beads!”

Hopefully this information helps! I wanted to give a different perspective to ThriftyGrl readers; you can be Thrifty and save money, but now, thanks to SandeeJene’s tips, you can get some trendy, gorgeous jewelry as well! : )
