Update regarding the FREE box of Honey Bunches of Oats!

Hey everyone!  Wanted to give you a heads up that I went to Walmart today and noticed that the Honey Bunches of Oats is no longer on sale for $2 a box; it has gone up to $3.18 a box!  The coupon I put up was for $2 off a box; that would make it $1.18 at this time.  I think that is a little pricey; you may want to wait for a sale.

I don't know if this is the case for all Walmart stores or just mine (here in NC), but I wanted to let you all now before you headed out shopping!

Have a great Sunday!

Deal Alert: Clearance, deals, and FREE string cheese at Target!

So I went to Target to look around today for a minute and found some pretty good deals that I wanted to tell you all about.  First, there is quite a clearance going on in the both men's and women's clothing, with racks of items ranging anywhere from 30% to 50% to even 75% off!  ThriftyGuy was able to get both a dress shirt and khaki shorts for $4.98 each!

Also, I found that Target (the regular store; it was not a Super Target) has Market Pantry brand string cheese for $0.40 each.  I had brought a coupon that I had printed from A Full Cup (a great website to get Target coupons from!) for $1 off any 2 Market Pantry Cheese, and sure enough, they gave it to me for FREE!  (**I actually printed out two of these coupons, so I ended up getting 4 string cheese total for FREE!)

To get print your coupons from A Full Cup, click here.
(For your free cheese, look to print the coupon labeled "$1/2 Market Pantry Cheese")

Also, you might want to keep your eye out for any other good coupons on A Full Cup that you think you might need (and print them now in case they become unavailable or run out).  I didn't get a chance to spend but a minute in Target and have a feeling you may find even more deals than I did!  : )

Old Navy Coupon Giveaway Update!!

Hey everyone!

The giveaway for the Old Navy Coupons has ended and we have our 4 winners!

First let me start off by saying that I know those of you who entered this particular contest are grateful for the chance at a coupon. I had decided to hold this giveaway after hearing from many of you that even though they weren't high value, that you could still use help in getting them!  I hope they are able to help out!  : )

For those outsiders with any negative opinions of this giveaway, please refer to my previous post: Something EVERYONE needs to read. I will not address this issue again; ThriftyGrl will be moving forward from here on out.

Now then, onto the exciting part: the winners!

This was done a little differently than giveaways in the past. Due to these coupons being readily available on ONW, there was no need to verify or respond in order to win.  Therefore all four winners have already been emailed there coupons!

Congrats to Danielle M. and Erika S. who got 20% off coupons!

Congrats to Regina H. and Christy F. who got $10 off a $50 purchase coupons!

**If you did not win one of the four coupons and were very much wanting or needing one, you still can get them on the Old Navy Weekly Site here.

  • To get the $10 off a $50 purchase, click the yellow star on the very bottom right corner of the page. Click the answer “Rita”.

  • To get the 20% off coupon, look where it says, “Wear it 4 ways”. You will see a line of dots below it. Click and drag that line of dots over to the right of the screen and let go over the word “Letters” (where it says “Letter to the Editor”).

  • After obtaining either coupon, it will ask for your first and last name and email address. You can then either print the coupon immediately or email it to yourself. If you are having difficulty obtaining a coupon, please let me know and I’ll do my best to help you out!

Again, I know these coupons weren’t the best, but hopefully they’ll help somewhat! Stay tuned for later this week, when ThriftyGuy and myself will hopefully be able to score some high value coupons to giveaway!

Hope you all fabulous weekend! : )

Something EVERYONE needs to read...

So normally I am a pretty easy-going person. I believe that everyone has their opinion and should have their say-so. Most importantly, I believe in helping others and following the golden rule. I usually let things slide, even when it comes to ignorance and rudeness.

Not this time.

A few of you, who shall rename nameless (or shall I say "anonymous") have found it your job recently to comment on my Old Navy coupon giveaway in a variety of ways (chat, comments, emails, etc). That is fine, you are entitled to your opinion. But when it is at the expense of my readers in the form of rude, condescending tone, then I get involved.

Let me first start out by saying that ThriftyGrl isn't geared toward one particular audience. I actually did NOT start this website to help those of you who are technically savvy or who know where all of the great coupons are and how to get them. I started it for those who don't know. Those who maybe don't understand how to use a website like OldNavyWeekly.com, don't choose to use one like it, or who don't always have the resources to find everything that the rest of us do. I run ThriftyGrl the way I lead my life; if someone is in need of something, I do my best to help them out. This website is not about material items, about your petty comments, or about gaining subscribers; it is about helping people out anyway I can.

If you would have read closely, you would see that this current giveaway has NOTHING to do with my email subscribers. This giveaway is a separate sign up for only those who are interested. Email subscribers are not entered unless they fill out the form. I said it before and I’ll say it again: I get that the majority of people don’t want these coupons. They aren’t high value and you can get them through the website. Unbeknownst to you, anonymous, there are some people who don’t know how to use ONW (even if given instructions), others who don’t have time to use it, don’t prefer to use it, etc. You seem to forget that not everyone is in the same situation/place in life. And no one owes you an explanation for any of this.

Furthermore, I must say that I have never lied or tried to hide the OldNavyWeekly.com website. You can visit it now here readers and bypass the giveaway. I only have enough email addresses for 4 coupons; that is why the giveaway is for exactly 4 coupons. People are more than welcome to print their coupons themselves. My loyal readers already know this. And I must say anonymous that I do find it funny that you had no problem when I gave away 50% and 75% off coupons, but now are getting upset when I am giving away lesser coupons. That speaks volumes right there.

Most importantly, no one is forced to read or subscribe to this website. If you don't like it, then so be it. You can get your information at a different source; no one is forcing you to be here. I only want genuine subscribers and readers who are here because they like it; not because they are here to pick apart my website (which I happen to put a lot of heart, soul, and hours of work into) and tell me how things should be done. I would also like to note that while you think I am such a horrible person, keep in mind that this is just a hobby; I do this outside of my job, volunteering, family life, etc. for free because I enjoy it and hope that it helps others out. So what if one giveaway is not for you? Keep your comments to yourself and move along! We don't want or need your negativity here at ThriftyGrl!

Anyway, enough said.

As for the other 99% of you, I think you are absolutely fantastic and your feedback is amazing. Thank you for your kind comments and defending ThriftyGrl. I can tell you honestly, from the bottom of my heart, that I truly enjoy doing this website and hope that you too will continue to enjoy it as well.

Thank you,
Jen (a.k.a.:  ThriftyGrl)

ThriftyGuy needs your help!

Hey everyone!

ThriftyGuy needs our help!

He is currently in the running for the Perfect Pool Guy search!  He is way excited and is very much hoping to win!  Being in the pool industry for over 10 years, he takes his job seriously and LOVES it!  He is always helping people out, definitely knows his stuff, and given the chance to change careers, even for all the money in the world, he would choose the same industry all over again.  Boy, if that isn't dedication, than I don't know what is!

Anyway, if you have a minute, please head on over to Pleatco's website and vote for him (he's the only Duane on the list; should be 6th from the top).  Also, please don't hesistate to pass it on!

(**One vote per person)

Thanks!!!

Boston Market: Review, deals, coupons!

I have never eaten at Boston Market before. We had them in Ohio, but somehow, it just wasn’t a place that my family or friends frequented. I grew up in a fast-paced life eating whatever was quick, easy, and cheap. Oh, the junk I ate and things I put my body through throughout the years!

Anyway, fast forward my life to now… 700 miles away from my small home town with different, what I would like to consider more “grown up” tastes (and who knew that getting older meant that you couldn’t eat that greasy meal from the burger joint at midnight without some serious GI side effects?!) I try to eat better and lead a healthier lifestyle than that of the past. Don’t get me wrong, I do have the occasional fast food burger, but it is far and few between compared to back in the day!
Recently BzzAgent sent me information on Boston Market, along with coupons to try them out. I was hesitant, as I always had the impression that they were more of a fast food place. I also had heard that they were very expensive, which does not go along with being Thrifty. But, as always, I like to give it the college try for BzzAgent. And they trust me to give them my honest opinions (and when do I not share my opinions?!)

So my husband and I went to Boston Market for lunch one day on a busy afternoon a few weeks back. As we entered the building, I was instantly shocked (yet pleasantly surprised) at not only how clean and organized it was, but also how well the flow went. It was perfect for crowd control; there weren’t people bunched up in any one area, and everyone flowed nicely through the entrance into the line to order, up to the check out to pay, on to get drinks and utensils, and then to either get a seat or exit through the opposing door. Brilliant. There were a ton of menu options, which were a bit pricey ($6 and up for a plate). Had I not had a coupon, I would have been a bit ticked to pay that much for a plate of food. I ordered the plate that gives you a ½ a chicken with two sides (choosing macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy) and along with it came a piece of corn bread. I also got a Coke Zero to go with it. My husband ordered a Boston Turkey Carver sandwich and water (he is never adventurous when it comes to his beverage selections, lol).

First things first. When I ordered my “1/2 chicken”, I never actually thought that they would actually give you HALF OF A CHICKEN. It was HUGE! And my big beef with restaurant chicken is that it is normally tough and dry. Not this chicken! It was like Mama’s Sunday chicken; moist, tender, and falling off the bone! I was also weary of the macaroni and cheese; so many restaurants boast a good mac ‘n cheese, but fall short when it comes down to it. Not this one! It was so thick and creamy; very filling and delicious! The mashed potatoes were a bit lumpy, but nonetheless good, and the brown gravy was beefy and just the way I like it. It came down to my cornbread, which is usually a hit or miss item. Again, they hit the nail on the head. It was moist with a bit of sweetness, and by the time I had eaten it I thought, “Wow. I didn’t even notice that I forgot to get butter with it.” To address the one issue that I had with the entire meal: the price… I was thinking about it as I ate… And my husband ate... And we both couldn’t (together) finish my one meal?!? I guess $7 isn’t so bad after all when it completely STUFFS two people! As for his sub? Very good. But I will say that we went back about 2 weeks later (yes, I am now an admitted Boston Market fan!) and got the Brisket Dip Carver. OMG. It was so delicious I couldn’t speak as I inhaled it. It was Mama’s home cookin’ on a bun served up in a hot minute. I am in love.

Thank you BzzAgent for opening my eyes to Boston Market, a place where I can get a nice home cooked meal that will more than surely stuff me and leave me feeling satisfied and wanting more : )
